What is Fashion Revolution

Fashion Revolution is a global movement that campaigns for a more sustainable and transparent fashion industry. It was founded in the wake of the Rana Plaza disaster in Bangladesh in 2013, where a garment factory complex collapsed, resulting in the deaths of over 1,100 workers and injuring thousands more. The tragedy shed light on the unsafe working conditions and lack of transparency prevalent in the fashion supply chain.

Fashion Revolution aims to raise awareness about the social and environmental impacts of the fashion industry, advocating for systemic change and greater accountability from fashion brands. The movement encourages consumers to ask “Who made my clothes?” and calls on brands to provide greater transparency about their supply chains, production processes, and labor practices.

Each year, Fashion Revolution Week takes place in April, commemorating the anniversary of the Rana Plaza disaster. During this week, people around the world participate in various events, campaigns, and initiatives to demand transparency, sustainability, and ethical practices in the fashion industry.
