At Ayzoh!, we often work on multiple field projects at once. We keep our community and supporters updated through our magazine, newsletter and social channels as each story unfolds. If you’re looking for past work we’ve completed — and the books or reports we’ve published — head over to our publications page.

Afar / Bag of Stories

Ayzoh! curates image, identity, and editorial content for Afar, with a special focus on A Bag of Stories, the magazine we produce and edit for the brand. Through stories from different parts of the world, the magazine reflects on what travel can mean today: attention, encounter, memory, work, and the ways people move through places with care and responsibility.

Our collaboration with Afar grows from a shared ground. Afar is a social enterprise devoted to products of real excellence, shaped with deep respect for labor, human dignity, and the well-being of every person involved in the process. That commitment matters to us. It gives form to the images, words, and editorial choices we build together.

This is why we work with Afar: to help tell a story where design, ethics, and cultural depth can stand in the same frame.

Burji – The Silent Voice of Ethiopia (and Kenya)

There is a people in southern Ethiopia that almost no one talks about. A people who pass down ancient wisdom through proverbs. A people who work the land with respect, weave the colors of time, and sing the memory of their ancestors.

This upcoming project brings together the complementary visions of two Ayzoh!’s co-founders: Giulia Zhang, a documentary photographer and researcher of endangered languages, and Claudio Maria Lerario, a visual storyteller with a deep background in long-form fieldwork. Merging academic insight and documentary photography, the project will unfold in close collaboration with the Burji communities themselves.

We will not go looking for stories of poverty or exoticism, but for the dignity of those who resist. We will live with them for two months. Walk alongside them. Eat with our hands, listen to their words, embrace their silences.

The resulting book and documentary will tell the story of a living culture that no border has ever managed to silence. A universal story, with an ancient voice and a fresh gaze.

NOWSUD – Nomadic Women, Enduring Rights

In northern Kenya, in the borderlands of Isiolo and Marsabit, a movement of nomadic women is rewriting the story of resistance. Led by the grassroots organization NOWSUD, these women confront child marriage, FGM, and gender-based violence — while adapting to climate shocks, reclaiming land rights, and rebuilding peace after tribal conflict.

Ayzoh! will live and work alongside NOWSUD to co-create a documentary film, a photographic book, and a multimedia storytelling platform. Our team will document daily acts of courage and innovation, from remote settlements to livestock camps and local markets — amplifying stories that rarely reach beyond the region.

This is a long-term alliance grounded in dignity, co-authorship, and solidarity. Women will not be portrayed as victims but as leaders — shaping their narratives, preserving their culture, and passing on tools to future generations. Together, we will build a global echo chamber for a message rooted in truth: real beauty is resistance.
