Graciela Iturbide

The photographic journeys presented in this exhibition span series that bear witness to Graciela Iturbide's gaze upon other realities, always with the premise that, for her, travel is essential for understanding and being surprised. And she surprises us with these extensive records of animate and inanimate subjects in Mexico, India, the United States, Italy, Japan, and Spain.

We invite the viewer to traverse this collection of Graciela Iturbide's work, which flows with the sound design by artist Manuel Rocha in a forest of columns thanks to the bold museographic work of architect Mauricio Rocha. A path where each piece stands out against textile panels that project the height of the grand nave: a unique interplay of light and shadow between the images and the tall canvases conceived and woven on pedal looms by women and men weavers from the San Pedro Factory.

About Graciela Iturbide

She is one of the most internationally recognized photographers. The recipient of the most prestigious photographic awards, including the Hasselblad Prize, Iturbide has developed notable photographic series, compiled in books such as "Los que viven en la arena" (1979) capturing the Sonoran Desert, "Juchitán de las mujeres" (1979-89), "Naturata" (2004), "El baño de Frida" (2009), and more recently, "White Fence Gang" (1986-2019), among others.
