After more than a month in the Adrar desert with Claudio, I decided to take a short two-day break before returning to the harsh conditions of Camp Erech. We accepted an invitation from Le Bureau Club (LBC) in Nouakchott to present our ongoing project. It turned out to be a meaningful detour.
LBC is a co-working space that brings people together to rethink the future of Mauritania in practical, grounded ways. Behind the initiative is Francesca Manili, an Italian entrepreneur with a long-term relationship with the country and a clear vision for its potential.
She founded LBC to offer a space for professionals, creatives, and community organizers to meet, exchange knowledge, and develop ideas. In a city where workspaces and opportunities for collaboration are still limited, LBC provides a rare infrastructure for building sustainable projects.
Nouakchott, once a coastal village, is now a large and complex capital. It’s shaped by migration, trade, and ambition. But for many professionals, especially those starting out, it can be a difficult place to find structure or support. LBC helps fill that gap with modern facilities, adaptable workspaces, and a calendar of events that reflect the city’s changing dynamics.
Its members include tech startups, social enterprises, artists, and small businesses. What connects them is not just work, but the drive to create something with purpose and impact. Ayzoh! recognizes the value of spaces like this—not only for business, but for nurturing ideas that can contribute to broader social and economic change.
Standing inside LBC, surrounded by people focused on building rather than waiting, I felt a strong connection between what happens there and what we try to do through Ayzoh!: tell stories that matter, support community-led projects, and offer tools for transformation. Francesca’s work is a reminder that with clarity, persistence, and the right people, meaningful change is always possible—even where it’s not expected.
If you’re working in Nouakchott and looking for a space that supports both productivity and connection, Le Bureau Club offers exactly that. It’s not just a place to sit with your laptop — it’s a community that makes things happen.
