As the city’s cobblestone streets and colonial facades are adorned with colorful flowers and intricate decorations, an air of solemnity and joy envelops the town, drawing locals and visitors into a shared experience of devotion and community.
The week begins with Palm Sunday, where throngs of the faithful gather to recreate Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem. Palm fronds, meticulously woven into intricate shapes, are carried aloft, transforming the streets into a moving tapestry of faith.

Each day of Holy Week unfolds with its unique blend of rituals and spectacles. The Procession of Silence on Holy Thursday is particularly moving.
Hooded penitents, their faces hidden in solemn anonymity, walk through the darkened streets in utter silence, their measured steps creating a powerful, almost mystical atmosphere. The only sounds are the distant tolling of church bells and the soft shuffle of feet on ancient stones.
Good Friday brings the most emotionally charged moments, with the reenactment of the Passion of Christ. Actors in vivid costumes portray the Stations of the Cross, their heartfelt performances stirring the emotions of all who witness them.
The procession pauses at each station, allowing the crowd to reflect on the suffering and sacrifice of Jesus. This poignant journey culminates at the Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel, where the final scenes unfold against the backdrop of the iconic church’s soaring spires.
Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday are days of renewal and celebration. The somber mood of the previous days gives way to joy and exultation.
The streets burst into life with music, dance, and feasting, as the community comes together to celebrate the resurrection. Fireworks light up the night sky, their bright bursts mirroring the collective spirit of hope and rebirth
